How We Calculate Dental Implant Costs
This page documents every baseline, adjustment, formula, source, and important limitation behind the calculator. The result is a budgeting scenario—not a price quote or treatment recommendation.
There is no current public “2026 ADA national implant fee table.” The ADA discontinued its Survey of Dental Fees. We therefore do not label the numbers below as ADA fees, national averages, reimbursement rates, or guaranteed market prices.
Baseline treatment scenarios
We begin with broad US consumer planning ranges. They are editorial model assumptions calibrated against clearly scoped public fee examples, common quote components, and deliberately wide uncertainty bands. They are not derived from a proprietary claims database.
Add-on assumptions
These allowances are only activated by the user's selections. A selection never means that a procedure is clinically necessary.
- Exam, CBCT, and planning allowance: $100–$700
- Extraction allowance: $200–$1,200 per tooth
- Minor or uncertain graft allowance: $300–$3,000 per modeled site
- Advanced site-preparation allowance: $1,500–$5,000 per modeled site or arch
- Oral sedation allowance: $300–$800
- IV sedation allowance: $800–$2,500
- Premium zirconia allowance: 12% of location-adjusted treatment baseline
- Insurance benefit: $0 unless the user enters a verified amount
Location adjustment
The user chooses a broad local price level. We apply 0.90 for a lower-cost area, 1.00 for the national planning scenario, or 1.11 for a higher-cost metro scenario to the treatment baseline before add-ons.
Those factors are informed by the range of recent BEA Regional Price Parities, which measure overall consumer price levels. They are not dental-specific and are intentionally presented as a coarse scenario. We do not claim ZIP-level accuracy or infer a user's location.
Calculation sequence
- 1Select the treatment baseline and multiply only by the applicable tooth, bridge, or arch quantity.
- 2Apply the chosen broad location factor to that baseline.
- 3Apply the optional restoration-material allowance.
- 4Add selected imaging, extraction, grafting, and sedation allowances.
- 5Subtract only the insurance amount entered by the user, never below zero.
- 6Round displayed ranges to the nearest $10 and calculate a midpoint for planning.
Financing formula
For a positive balance and APR, the monthly preview uses the standard fixed-payment amortization equation:
payment = principal × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1)
Here, r is APR divided by 12 and n is the number of months. At 0%, payment equals principal divided by months. Because APR can incorporate fees and real contracts may use different terms, this is an approximation, not a lender disclosure or offer of credit.
What the model does not know
- Whether implants are appropriate for an individual or which treatment is needed
- Anatomy, health history, diagnosis, imaging findings, or clinical complexity
- A clinic’s actual fee schedule, included services, lab, materials, or warranty
- Insurance network allowed amounts, deductibles, exclusions, annual maximums, or eligibility
- Lender approval, contract rate, origination fees, deferred-interest terms, or late charges
- Taxes, HSA/FSA eligibility, legal rights, or any guaranteed savings
